This was our seventh stay at Melbourne Cottage in five years and the second time we’ve visited at Christmas. We love this cottage, and its location, which is ideal for access to the coast path that leads down to the lovely village of Boscastle with its picturesque harbour and variety of places to eat, drink and shop. The cottage is clean, cosy and well-equipped and there are initial supplies of tea, coffee and milk to comfortably start off the holiday. We hope to visit again soon.

The cottage is very comfortable and spotlessly clean, with everything you could possibly need for a great stay. It’s in a good location near the top of the village, very peaceful and quiet, and a short walk from the coastal path for lovely walks, views and sunsets. It’s also in short (but very steep) walking distance of the village and harbour for some good pubs and restaurants, and walks through the lovely Valency valley. We can’t wait to return.

We have stayed in several places in Boscastle before, but prices have gone silly and many out of our reach this year, and some seem modernised unnecessarily and lost any character. We are so pleased to have found Melbourne Cottage which is just perfect and we would love to stay again as soon as we can. The walk up the hill from the harbour could be done in only 8.5 mins and really wasn’t a big deal- and also lessened the guilt after a lovely meal at the Riverside or fish and chips on the harbour side. A week of bad weather wasn’t a problem when you can return weatherbeaten to such a homely warm and inviting cottage!

After asking if towels were supplied, I should have asked what wasn’t supplied. These people thought of everything and everything spotless. Fantastic retreat to base a Cornish holiday from. Very glad we chose this cottage to stay, everything was just great. Many thanks, Michelle and Barry Woodward

We have just had a brilliant stay in Melbourne Cottage. We were so pleased to find it! It is very well equipped and tastefully decorated. It is in a beautiful quiet location near the top of Boscastle and has amazing views looking down into Boscastle from the front garden where you can sit and relax in the sun. It is also very close to the coastal footpath. The buses run from the top of the road into Bude and Truro so you can leave your car at the cottage! Would highly recommend as is one of the nicest cottages we have ever stayed in and would love to go back.
